I firmly believe the storytelling and art design of some of my favorite games would make compelling films. More and more, video games are being adapted for film. Some of the best examples are the anime features. Joining titles such as Final Fantasy and Halo Legends is Mass Effect.

BioWare, a division of Electronic Arts, Inc. has teamed up with FUNimation Entertainment and T.O Productions, Inc. to bring the acclaimed video game to home video. With an expansive universe and intrguing story, a movie is a natural medium to expand the Mass Effect franchise. “Partnering with FUNimation ensures that we will bring this rich universe to life with the utmost quality and the same attention to detail that the Mass Effect games are known for,” Casey Hudson, executive producer for the Mass Effect franchise is quoted. FUNimation Entertainment is already in bed with BioWare working on the Dragon Age movie currently in production.

The anime production of Mass Effect is already underway and the completed project is expected for digital distribution and home video sale for summer 2012. In addition to the anime film, BioWare is hard at work on the release of Mass Effect 3, perhaps the most anticipated video game of the year.
